Secured loan

Secured loans are secured against something of high value, for example a house.

Secured loans often come with a lower interest rate than other type of loan - and this is because the lender is taking less risks with their money by giving out a secured loan. The thing is, if the borrower fails to repay the loan, then the lender can keep whatever the loan was secured against.

For example, a mortgage is a type of secured loan. This means that if a borrower fails to repay their mortgage, then the lender can repossess their house. This is an extreme example though, and there is plenty of help available for people struggling with payments to their secured loans.

Illegal lenders

Illegal lenders are getting a lot of press recently. I was never really aware of illegal lenders until the papers and news channels kept doing stories on them.

It is quite alarming looking at how much these illegal lenders were charging in interest. In some cases, it was over 2000%! That is just silly isn't it.

Having found out about illegal lenders, I spoke to one of my friends about them - and surprisingly, they had actually encountered some illegal lenders.

A few years ago, some illegal lenders came to her door and offered her a short-term loan of £1000. If she could repay the loan within the month then she would only pay £150 in interest, but if she failed to repay the full amount, then she would be charged an extortionate 1345% in interest!

Luckily…she said no. But others weren't so vigilant, and fell for this illegal lending.

Debt is getting me down

Debt is getting me down. It's really starting to cause a huge problem!

It started last year when I left university. I had a mountain of debt that I couldn't afford to repay. I got a job working in a convenience store - which didn't really pay too much, but it was enough to pay for my food and rent…but not my debt.

My debt is getting me down so much that I'm considering entering a debt solution to help me take control of my finances once and for all. I want to be in the driving seat!

I've had enough of debt getting me down, so I am taking action…right now. I am creating a little budget for myself so I don't end up spending more than I should do. I can keep track of my money - and will get out of debt as soon as I can!

My debt

My debt is getting better…at last! It has been a while since I last went out and enjoyed myself, but now my debt is starting to shrink, I think I will be able to do it.

The thing is, my debt really wouldn't have been a problem if I had taught myself to control my spending. I just kept buying things I really didn't need, and unfortunately, my debt grew larger and larger.

My debt is now at a manageable level, and I can see the end of the tunnel. The only reason it is like this is because I have managed to control my spending, I have stayed in for months and just paid my debts, nothing else.

Give it another 3 weeks, and I will be debt-free at last! I can't wait to go out and enjoy myself to celebrate!

Debt-free

I can't wait to be debt-free. It feels like I've been in debt all my adult life, ever since I left university. I have had debt hanging over me from the age of 19 when I started at university, and I'm looking forward to this time next year as I will finally be debt-free!

To become debt-free, I have had to work unbelievably hard, earning any extra money I could, working nights and evenings, and often mornings. Some of the debt I had was only there because of interest - it just caused my debt to spiral out of control.

So, this time next year I will be living a new debt-free life, I will be happy as can be. I will keep you all informed week by week how I am doing in clearing my debts and moving towards my debt-free future!

Bad debt

I have really bad debts. They are really starting to grow and get out of control. The interest is sky-rocketing and my debt is turning into really really bad debt.

I did have my debts under control, but then I lost my job, and couldn't afford the repayments, and that's when they became bad debts.

I lose sleep at night, and think about the bad debt during the day - and until now, I thought there was no way out.

I did some research last night and found that some organisations offer free debt help to people struggling with their finances. I think I will phone up tomorrow and speak to someone about my bad debt.

I can't wait to be debt-free, I finally feel positive about my situation. I'm at the bottom, and with that debt help, I will be at the top very soon!
